 Welcome to our website!
Thank you for visiting Oxford Screening.

We offer a medically-led health screening service for the public with a difference. We bring important new screening tests direct to your door so you do not need to visit your doctor. Results are sent to your home and medical advice is standard. We remind you annually by email when screening tests are due to be repeated as the protection from disease by screening depends on regular testing. Oxford Screening specialises in home tests that you perform in your own home and either read the results of the test yourself or tests where you take the sample yourself then post it to us for processing. For tests returned to us we offer rapid testing and emailing of results generally within 24-48 hours of receiving samples (not for Gold tests). The home tests include tests for:

  • underactive thyroid gland and the TSH test - this test tells you your risk of having an underactive thyroid that can cause the very common symptoms of tiredness, dry skin, depression, gaining weight and being sensitive to cold weather; all that is needed are a few drops of blood to be dropped onto a card and sent to us for testing. There is no need to visit your doctor. We will help you to interpret your results. This test is a high quality lab test and is analysed in an accredited lab and gives your result as a number. An underactive thyroid can be treated with thyroid hormone - thyroxine.
  • irritable bowel syndrome and colitis - 'Calprotectin test' tells you your risk of having colitis (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease) or irritable bowel syndrome
  • indigestion caused by infection with Helicobacter pylori bacteria - this test tells you your risk of having Helicobacter and tells you if you need treatment; if you have had Helicobacter it can tell you if the treatment has been successful
  • bowel cancer / bowel polyp test that detects small amounts of blood in the faeces and tells you your risk of having bowel cancer or polyps
  • prostate cancer - to assess your risk of having a prostate disorder including prostate cancer take the PSA test. It is a blood test that requires a few drops of blood to be dropped into a tube and sent to us for testing. There is no need to visit your doctor. We will help you to interpret your results. This test is a high quality lab test and is analysed in an accredited lab and gives your result as a number.
  • for more advice - See the "what tests are best for you" page to help you to decide which tests are most appropriate for you. For couples, see our bargain couples pack

No tests are 100% accurate but regular testing can reduce your risk of serious disease.
