A convenient choice and a very popular test is the PSA home test. This test requires just a few drops of blood from a finger prick. For this test you collect the sample of blood at home onto a special piece of paper rather like blotting paper. The finger pricker provides a quick and comfortable method for collecting a blood sample. After the sample of blood has dried you package it up and send it to us through the post. We arrange for the testing of your sample in an accredited lab. It can take up to 14-21 days for your sample to be processed after we receive it. The result is emailed to you as soon as the result is ready (you can request a copy by post if you prefer).

Please follow the instructions carefully when taking your blood sample because if you invalidate the test by not obtaining sufficient blood then you will need to request a replacement card. It can be useful to have a second person present to assist you when taking the sample.

Excess PSA is a substance found in the blood in most but not all men with prostate cancer and other prostate disorders. The test determines the level of PSA in the blood; this test gives the result as a number. The normal level for PSA is less than 4ng/mL.
